63-year-old man becomes 2nd victim of A (H1N1) flu virus

The Health Department have said that a 63-year-old man has become the second victim of A (H1N1) virus in Malta, he is understood to have been suffering from underlying health conditions.
The man was admitted to Mater Dei on the 23rd of August and while receiving treatment in the Intensive Therapy Unit, it was established that he was suffering from the A (H1N1) virus, he succumbed to the virus on the 1st of September.
So far, 282 cases of A (H1N1) have been confirmed in Malta, 255 cases are reported to have recovered.
An-82-year-old woman was the first victim of the virus, she died at Mater Dei Hospital on August the 18th due to complications that arose after she was confirmed to have the AH1N1 virus.
Anyone who is currently feeling any of the symptoms is urged not to go to hospital emergency departments or clinics, instead they should stay at home and contact a doctor, or contact the swine flu helpline on 21324086.
