Top International Cast for 'Aida' at the Teatru tal-Opra AuroraThe management of the Teatru tal-Opra Aurora proudly presents the production of Giuseppe Verdi’s spectacular grand opera Aïda, on Saturday October 10th, 2009. The performance will start at 7.30pm under the distinguished patronage of H.E. Dr George Abela, the President of Malta.

Aïda returns at the Aurora after 10 years from its premierè at the same Gozitan theatre, way back in April 1999, featuring a powerhouse international cast starring world renowned tenor Franco Farina (U.S.) as Radamès the warrior, soprano Elena Zelenskaya (Russia) as Princess Aïda, baritone Yasuo Horiuchi (Japan) as her Royal Ethiopian father Amonasro and mezzo-soprano Tea Demurishivili (Georgia) as the loving and vengeful Egyptian Princess Amneris who rounds the quartet of principals.

Also included in the main roles are bass Noel Galea (Malta) as Ramfis the High Priest, bass Luigi Cirillo (Italy) as the King of Egypt, Francesco Sauzullo (Italy) as the messenger and the Teatru Aurora’s very own soprano Claudia Tabone (Malta) as the High Priestess.

Mro Colin Attard leads the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra together with the Aurora Opera Chorus in Verdi’s most famous score, while the artistic director, Novella Tabili ( Italy ) marshals an additional 75 supernumeraries and dancers for the opera’s famous processions and ceremonies.
