International Kendo seminar underway in Gozo

About seventy people are participating in the first International Kendo seminar that is being held in Gozo over this weekend.
During the inaugural session of the seminar demonstrations were held on various techniques of the sport, which is also a Japanese martial arts. Following the exhibition a letter was read out that was sent by the Japanese consul in Rome for the occasion.
This seminar is being held in the Sports Complex, Victoria, with the collaboration of the Ministry for Gozo, the Malta Council for Sports and the Malta Tourism Authority. Among the guests who were present for the ceremony of the inauguration were the Minister for Gozo, Giovanna Debono and Member of Parliament, Chris Cardona.
While welcoming the participants and organisers of this seminar, Giovanna Debono, said that this seminar also strengthens the work that is already being done in the sports facilities in Gozo, which are aimed to improve services and facilities to those living on the island.
This event will continue over the weekend and on Sunday morning there will be a competition and demonstrations until after midday. On Sunday afternoon at 3pm, the general public is invited to participate in free practical lessons.
