Marsalforn holds - 'St Pawla Festa, Art, Faith & Culture'Between the 22nd and the 24th of January a celebration for the Feast of St Paul will be held in Marsalforn.

This event will be called ‘Festi San Pawl’ Art, Faith & Culture’ and will be organised by the Local Councils of Xaghra and Zebbug with the full support of the Parliamentary Secretariat for Public Information and the MTA, and with the collaboration of the church at Marsalforn which is dedicated to St. Paul, and the Gozo Cultural Council.

This festival of art, faith and culture is being held for the second consecutive year and is one of the activities that benefited from the scheme of special funds for cultural activities launched by the Parliamentary Secretariat for Public Information and the MTA.

In a meeting at Marsalforn to announce the celebration, Xaghra Mayor, Joe Cordina and Zebbug Mayor, Charles Saliba talked about the festival and gave details about the various activities that will be taking place.

The programme includes several celebrations connected with the feast of the Conversion of St. Paul, which the chapel of Marsalforn is dedicated to. There will also be marches taking place by the Xaghra Victory bands and entertainment by the Santa Marija festival of choirs from Zebbug. There will be a pop concert featuring various artists.

The Parliamentary Secretary for Public Dialogue and Information, Chris Said, congratulated the two local councils on working together for this event. He said that because Marsalforn lay between Zebbug and Xaghra, it made it an ideal venue for the celebration, as will as promoting it as an area to visit in the winter and not just the usual summer months.

Chris Said said that this activity spread over three days is an ideal way of showing the local traditions and culture, that are in themselves a unique attraction.

The Parliamentary Secretary concluded by urging both local councils to continue working together to further promote the location of Marsalforn and said that other local councils that are geographically close together, should follow this example to better promote their areas.
