Dar Guzeppa Debono Conference and Christmas in August

Dar Guzeppa Debono of Ghajnsielem is celebrating its 25th anniversary, twenty five years of service in favour of life. Numerous are those mothers and families who have benefitted from the Home’s services which offers shelter to single mothers and promotes pro-life events, fostering and educational programmes in schools.
Through these twenty-five years, the volunteers who work at the home have done their utmost to offer professional services to these mothers who chose life. Also, during this time, they have designed numerous varied programmes and projects according to actual social needs.
Education is vital in promoting life, and for this purpose, the Home is organising a National Conference on Saturday the 30th and Sunday the 31st of October entitled “I am my body – Towards the Theology of the Body.” Prof. George Woodall, lecturer at the Accademia Pontificia Per La Vita of Rome, will be the key-note speaker. The conference will include the interventions of Theologist Fr. Rene Camilleri and Gynaecologist Dr. Margaret Spiteri.
On August 9th till the 13th, the annual activity of Christmas in August will be held, Christmas items will be on sale from a Showroom at Mgarr Road in Ghajnsielem. This is a must for all Christmas lovers, a whole array of Christmas items will be sold as fund raising for the home.
Furthermore, as part of this year’s celebrations, they are organising a special event dedicated to the grandparents who are always within reach to offer their help:
On Monday the 26th of July, the liturgical feast of St. Ann and St. Joachim, Dar Guzeppa Debono in collaboration with San Lawrenz Local Council is holding a mass at the Dwejra Chapel dedicated to Jesus’ grandparents. The mass starts at 7pm and will be held by H. E. Mgr. Mario Grech, Bishop of Gozo. After the mass, a BBQ will be held outside and the Ciangura San Lawrenz Folk Group and other Gozitan entertainers will be present to create a festive atmosphere.
