Installation of Mgr Joseph Sultana as Gharb Parish Priest

This coming Sunday, the 9th of January 2011, Liturgical Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, Xaghra parish will be in festive mood as it celebrates the installation of Rev Mgr Joseph Sultana, as the new Archpriest of the Visitation Parish in Gharb (Gozo).
Rev. Joseph Sultana was born on 21st May 1976. He attended the Xaghra Primary School and later on the Ninu Cremona Lyceum and Sir Michelangelo Refalo Post-Secondary College. He was ordained deacon on 23rdth June 2000 and consecrated priest by the late Bishop Mgr Nicholas J. Cauchi on 20th June 2001 at the Assumption Cathedral in Victoria Gozo. In August 2006, he was appointed as Vicar of the Cathedral Parish and later on, Honorary Canon at the Collegiate of the Nativity of Our Lady in Xaghra. On Friday 8th October 2010, Canon Joseph Sultana (now Monsignor) was appointed Archpriest of the Visitation Parish in Gharb by H.L. Bishop Mario Grech.
At 8am, Mgr Joseph Sultana will preside the Morning Prayers with the Collegiate Chapter and Clergy of our Parish and present a flower bouquet to the titular statue of Maria Bambina which is venerated in its niche in the right-hand nave of the Basilica. At around 8.30am, a carcade will leave Xaghra and make its way to Gharb. Mgr Sultana will be welcomed in the main entrance of Gharb at 9.00am by the Victory Band of Xaghra and Vizitazzjoni Band of Gharb who will play festive band marches along the main streets of this small village. A Solemn Concelebrated High Mass begins at 10.00am and it will led by H.L. Bishop Mario Grech. A reception follows in the main square of the village.
On Saturday 8th January, the eve of the installation ceremony, a Musical Concert ‘MAGNIFICAT’ will be held at Gharb Collegiate Basilica at 7.30pm. The Schola Cantorum Jubilate Choir will perform under the direction of Ms. Marouska Attard.
