EC funds awarded to Qala Council for heritage trail project

The European Commission have granted allocation of funds, available under EC Measure 313 and upon recommendation by the Ministry for Resources and Rural Affairs, to be invested by Qala Local Council in the “Exploring and Improving Qala’s quality of life through Heritage Trail” project.
This project will be implemented over three years, totalling the sum of €197,638, and consists of a heritage trail around the locality of Qala.
The Sites which were identified for the project include: The Civic Centre, Picnic Area, Folklore Museum, Dolmen, Ta’ Randu” Windmill, St. Anthony’s Battery, Hondoq Bay, “Il-Madonna tal-Blat” Chapel, Cart Ruts, Immaculate Conception Sanctuary, St Joseph Square and the Parish Church and The Belvedere.
While commenting on the above, Qala Mayor Paul Buttigieg pointed out that, in conjunction with previous initiatives undertaken by the Council, this project would be giving a bigger dimension to the locality. Furthermore, in addition of the mentioned €197,638, Qala Council were already awarded €32,640.54 for this initiative. Thus, financing received for this project totals the sum of €230,279.44.
In his parting remarks, the Mayor said that he wished to acknowledge and thank everyone who contributed towards this project, in particular MUSEC for the assistance given during the compiling of the application.
