Candidate details & notice of applications for local electionsThe Electoral Commissioners has said that they will be in attendance at their Office in Evans Building, St. Elmo Square, Valletta, and at the Identity Cards Office, Rabat, Gozo, from 9.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. and from 3.00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m. on Wednesday 8th , Thursday 9th , and Saturday 11th February, 2012 to receive nominations by candidates for the forthcoming Local Councils’ Elections.

Application forms for prospective candidates may be obtained from the Office of the Electoral Commission, Valletta, and from the Identity Cards Office, Rabat, Gozo and from Local Councils’ Offices where elections are being held, as from today and during nomination days. The identity card must be presented upon depositing the nomination paper.

Persons to serve as Assistant Electoral Commissioners; Counters; Supervisors; Party Agents; Counting Agents; and Delivery Agents

The Electoral Commission notifies the political parties contesting the elections for the Local Councils’ of Birgu, L-Isla, Hal Qormi, HaS-sebbua, Is-Siaaiewi, H’Attard, Hal Balzan, BirSebbuaa, Had-Dingli, Floriana, Il-Azira, Ghajnsielem, Hal Gharghur, Il-Hamrun, L-Iklin, Ta’ Kerëem, Hal-Kirkop, Hal-Luqa, Il-Marsa, Marsaxlokk, Il-Mosta, Il-Munxar, In-Nadur, Paola, Il- Qala, Hal Safi, San Ailjan, San Lawrenz, San Pawl il-Bahar, Santa Luëija, Is-Swieqi, Ix-Xaghra, IS-sebbua and IS-Zurrieq and any person or any group of persons contesting the election of a Local Council as one group bearing the same name, that according to regulations 27(1), 55(3) and 30(3) of the Third Schedule of the Local Councils Act (Chap. 363), they have up to Wednesday 8th February, 2012 to submit to the Electoral Commission lists wherein they nominate persons to serve as Assistant Electoral Commissioners, Counters, Supervisors and Party Agents.

Political parties may submit up to Saturday 18th February, 2012 to the Electoral Commission a list of names of persons to serve as Counting Agents. The number of Counting Agents must be equal to the number of candidates contesting the election with that party in the respective locality.

Political parties are also reminded that according to regulations 54(1) and 46(6E) of the same Act, they may up to Saturday 18th February, 2012 nominate persons to serve as Delivery Agents and Transport Agents. The number of Delivery Agents shall not be more than two for each locality being contested, as established by the Electoral Commission, and the number of Transport Agents shall be equal to the number of vehicles used to convey Assistant Electoral Commissioners and Ballot Boxes.

Nomination forms for prospective candidates may be obtained from the Electoral Office, Evans Building, St. Elmo Square, Valletta and the Identity Cards Office, Victoria, Gozo, between today and Saturday 11th February, 2012.

Nominations of candidates will be received by the Electoral Commission on Wednesday 8th , Thursday 9th , and Saturday 11th February, 2012, from 9.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. and from 3.00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m.
