Conference on Improving the Tourism Offer in Rural Regions‘Improving the Tourism Offer in Rural Regions’ conference will highlight a number of best practices and recommendations for an improved tourism product with case-studies from the island of Gozo as identified during the course of the ICER Project (Innovative Concept of Eco-Accommodation Approach in Rural Regions). The conference will also offer suggestions and recommendations on how to deal with the improvement of tourism offers in rural areas.

Stakeholders from the tourism sector, both foreign and local, will share their experiences and discuss the best practices identified by the seven partner regions participating in the ICER Project.

The conference will open with a speech by the Minister for Gozo, Giovanna Debono and continues with an introduction on ICER by Mr. Thomas Ducloutrier, Head of Territorial Cooperation, Regional Committee for Tourism Development, Auvergne. The Chief Executive of the Association of Gozo Tourism (GTA) Mr Joe Muscat will speak about his experience in Project ICER, Mr Michael Ganado from PricewaterhouseCoopers will deal with the development of recommendations for improving the rural territories tourism product as identified by the ICER Project, Mr. David Dandria of the Ministry for Gozo and the University of Malta, Mr Brian Meilaq of Baron Group Malta, Mr John Magri of the Malta Tourism (MTA) and Mr Anthony Zammit, Director of Eco-Gozo Regional Development within the Ministry for Gozo will talk about various aspects of best practices for Gozo.

The conference is to be held at the Kempinski Hotel, San Lawrenz, next Tuesday, the 7th of February 2012 from 8.30am – 2.00pm.
