'Premju Qalb tad-Deheb' awarded to the Xuereb familyOn Saturday the Cana Movement in Gozo held its 41st annual ‘Premju Qalb tad-Deheb’ Award Ceremony at its headquarters in Victoria, Gozo. Chorus Urbanus was invited to participate for the occasion.

This year’s edition was awarded to the Xuereb Family from Xewkija. Dr Paul G Pisani in his outline in the report of the Selection Board, said that they showed strong family values when faced with very difficult situations, in particular following the terrible traffic accident involving their 13-year old son.

The ‘Premju Qalb tad-Deheb’ Award took place under the patronage of The President of Malta, HE Dr. George Abela. Also present were H.L. Mgr Mario Grech, Bishop of Gozo, the Minister for Gozo, Giovanna Debono, The Minister of Justice, Dr Chris Said, Minister of Justice and Anton Tabone, Agent President, as well as other distinguished guests and members of the Cana Movement.

Chorus Urbanus, under the musical direction of Dr Joh Galea, was was again invited to add musical interventions between the obligatory speeches that were delivered during the ceremony. The Choir performed Antonio Lotti’s Ave Regina Coelorum, Marco Frisina’s Jesus Christ You are My Life, and Antonio Vivalidi’s Gloria.

The “Premju Qalb tad-Deheb” shield was then presented by Dr George Abela to the Xuereb Family. Bishop Mario Grech, the Minister for Gozo and other sponsors also offered donations and gifts to the Xuereb Family.

The ceremony ended with a 4-voice a capella interpretation of the National Hymn, Lil Din L-Art Helwa followed by a reception.
