Annual Gozo Lace Day 2012 being held at the Gozo Campus

The Lace Making Programme at the University of Malta – Gozo Campus will be organising the sixteenth annual ‘Gozo Lace Day.
The event will be held on Sunday, the 22nd of April 2012 from 9.00am to 4.00pm at the University Gozo Campus, Mgarr Road, Xewkija, Gozo and will consist of a number of exhibitions and demonstrations relating to Maltese lace making.
Lace makers are invited to bring their pillow and join others in lacemaking and sharing experiences. A bobbin will be offered as a commemorative souvenir to all participants. The event will also include exhibitions of lace masterpieces and textile crafts, a competitiion and a raffle. A talk about the pattern of Cape Collar will be delivered by Ms Consiglia Azzopardi.
Other stands will be mounted by the International Organisation of Needle and Bobbin Lace (OIDFA) and by the Malta Lace Guild. There will also be demonstrations of felted sheep wool, embroidery, card weaving, beading and lace making.
Information about lace courses will be available at the Lace Making Programme on the premises. ‘Koperattiva Ghawdxija tal-Bizzilla u Artigjanat’ will provide lace material for sale.
The Minister for Gozo, Giovanna Debono will present certifcates to students who successfully completed courses offered by the Lace Making Programme.
Entrance is free and everybody is warmly invited to attend.
