During the homily the Bishop spoke about the importance of prayer, especially the Rosary, in the family as an example for the children who will learn to pray if they see their parents praying.
2. Loraine Borg was appointed group leader of Xaghra Scouts by district commissioner Lorrie Saliba.
Ms. Borg is replacing Vince Vella, who was instrumental in revitalising the Xaghra group and served in the movement for the past 50 years. Assistant group scout leader Carmel Attard is also retiring.
The ceremony was followed by a reception.
3. Michael Camilleri of Nadur recently sat for the LTCL diploma which he passed with a distinction, making him the first Maltese to obtain this diploma. Camilleri, who started learning the drums at the age of five under the tuition of John Farrugia, can now teach the drum kit.
He sat for all the eight grades, passing his seventh and eighth grade with distinction. Moreover, he passed the ATCL diploma with a distinction. In 2010, he played the drums at the Valletta Waterfront during Pope Benedict’s visit.
Also in 2010, Camilleri played with an orchestra formed by musicians from eight EU countries in France.
Camilleri currently teaches the percussion and plays with several local bands.
