American Ambassador attends ‘Opera versus Pop’ in Gozo

On Monday evening the U.S. Embassy, in collaboration with the Ministry of Gozo, sponsored the performance ‘Opera vs Pop Under the Stars,’ by Maltese-American soprano Pamela Agius, bass Noel Galea, tenor Ludwig Galea and the Gozo Youth Orchestra under the direction of Mro. Joseph Grech. This 5th edition of the concert was held at the Gozo Ministry’s courtyard in Victoria.
The audience of about 500 people included the Minister for Gozo, Giovanna Debono, the Minister for Justice, Dialogue and the Family, Dr Chris Said and the American Ambassador Abercrombie-Winstanley.
The first part of the concert included classical and operatic songs and arias, which was followed by a variety of soundtracks from well-known films and musicals
The programme included a message written by Ambassador Abercrombie-Winstanley, where she highlighted the rich history of bilateral cultural connections between Malta and the U.S.
At the end of the concert Mro. Grech said that he looked forward to future collaboration with the U.S. Embassy, thanked the Ambassador for her support, and presented her with flowers and a framed picture of the orchestra.
