Monochrome Muse by Henry Alamango supported by BOVA collection of Henry Alamango’s most recent works have been put together in his 10th solo art exhibition – “Monochrome Muse” – which is supported by BOV as part of its ongoing programme to support local talent.

Henry Alamango is certainly not a new name in the artistic world. Several Maltese landscapes have inspired watercolours by this artist. Visiting his studio one can appreciate his undying inspirations. He is constantly surrounded by boats and sea in his environs. The place is adorned with his most recent works which depict urban, country and coastal sceneries in a very much reduced colour palette. Monochromes in browns, greys and blues dominate this collection while a touch of colour is added to direct the focus and attention of the viewer to the detail as desired by the artist.

Although his style has the Henry Alamango stamp, one can observe the different palette colours applied in this current collection of works. Monochromatic hues take over this collection enhancing the contrast between light and dark.

“Through these monochromatic scenes, one can appreciate the enhanced nuances of light and shade, uncluttered by the distractions of multiple colours. These works convey the tranquility and serenity that are typical of most of my works,” he said.

‘Monochrome Muse’ will be open to the public between the 1st and 22nd of September, 2012 at Gozo’s Ministry for Culture Section, Banca Giuratale in Victoria Gozo.
