A spectacular celebration parade wrapped up the second edition of the ZiguZajg Festival for Children and Young People, which took place in various venues throughout Valletta and Gozo between the 19th and 25th November.
Commenting on this activity, ZiguZajg Festival Artistic Director Toni Attard said that the parade “brought together youth groups, professional dancers and musicians, and the result of this collective creative input was a rousing end to the ZiguZajg Festival, a celebration of the expression of art for children and young people, and Valletta’s landmark title of European Capital of Culture in 2018. The parade was the result of our close collaboration with Agenzija Zghazagh and V18.”
Ten youth groups were involved in building gigantic puppets which paraded along Republic Street. The puppets, which were accompanied by musicians from the Big Band Brothers and Tisbit, eventually joined up with dance groups who performed in front of the Law Courts. The whole parade then proceeded towards St. George’s Square.
The dance schools which participated in the celebration parade, which was choreographed and directed by RedTape Dance Company, included Dance Academy, Dance Workshop, Olivia Dow School of Russian Ballet, Helen Keith School of Ballet, Dance Project.
