Thousands flock to Heritage Malta sites during its Open DayThousands of people flocked to Hagar Qim and Mnajdra temples and the Domus Romana during the Open Day of the three sites held by Heritage Malta last Tuesday.

The Feast of St. Joseph, was definitely a busy day for Heritage Malta staff as they were set to organise a day to remember for all the visitors of the Hagar Qim and Mnajdra temples as well as the Domus Romana. Hard work paid off as thousands took advantage of this opportunity, establishing a new record of visitors to these three sites.

The open day at Hagar Qim and Mnajdra Temples saw over 3000 visitors who enjoyed a full programme of events and activities including a number of lectures, a pottery session where visitors were invited to try the methods used during prehistoric times, a treasure hunt, various tours and a taste of food using ingredients available in prehistory.

The Domus Romana registered a record 2100 visitors on the day. The people visiting the museum had the opportunity of appreciating the intriguing mosaics, original Roman statues as well as the structure itself and numerous other artefacts which form part of the permanent display.

Heritage Malta said that the resounding succes of the 19th March Open Day augures well for similar other activities which Heritage Malta has already lined-up for the coming months.
