The Gozo Regional Committee, as one of the members present for the meeting of The Malta Council for Social and Economic Development held on Friday 5th April, has expressed its concern about the state of the deficit as presented by the Minister of Finance at the same meeting.
However it said that it is also confident that with the measures that the same minister has proposed and with the GRC’s suggestion on the better utilization of our human resources, the deficit can be reduced to acceptable EU levels without causing any shocks to the economy.
The committee said that it also wants to show its solidarity with the government on the baseless and senseless political attack on the country by a few other EU states regarding the financial services industry in Malta.
The GRC added that it also augurs that all the members of the MCESD, under the new chairmanship of Mr John Bencini, will work together in harmony in the best interests of our country.
The GRC has been a member of MCESD by act IV of May of 2012.
