ERRC lifeguarding service starts today at the Blue LagoonLifeguards of the Emergency Response and Rescue Corps of Gozo will commence their duties at the Blue Lagoon, Comino as from today, Wednesday, the 12th of June.

The lifeguarding service will run on a daily basis from 9.30am till 6.00pm, right through to the end of September.

The Corps’ hydro ambulance, Lifesaver 1, will be deployed in Comino for all the duration of the lifeguarding service. Last year, Lifesaver 1 was useful in the transportation of casualties from Comino to Mgarr or Cirkewwa, so patients could then be transported to the hospital.

The service is possible due to financial support from the Malta Tourist Authority. Support is also being provided by the Ministry for Gozo, Transport Malta, Police, Armed Forces of Malta, Police and the Civil Protection Department.

    1. John Edwards says:

The ERRC Lifeguards do literally that; guard and rescue people who get into difficulty in the sea waters, and because they are also trained First-Aiders, First Responders or Paramedics they can also assist in most other medical emergencies that may arise on the islands.

However, care and common sense should always be used on Comino, it is a natural and ‘unmodernised’ island, swimmers must respect this by not ignoring safety and warning signs.

The Lifeguard Station at Ramla is expected to be open at the end of this month.
