28th edition of Gozo Observer published - A Campus journalThe University of Malta – Gozo Campus, has published the latest edition of the Gozo Observer and once again contains a number of interesting articles relating to the island.

In this 28th edition, Dr Mario Saliba in his article ‘The Polio Epidemic in Gozo,’ gives an insight into the horrific polio epidemic which hit our islands during the last century while Dr Michael Galea presents the results of a study in his article ‘Burnout and Well-being: An Incremental Validity Study.’

‘The Xewkija Parish’ is an interesting article contributed by Mark Zerafa which is part of a series of articles being carried by the Gozo Observer relating to the Gozo parishes.

The first part of a two-part article entitled ‘The Woman in Gozitan Folklore’ written by Anton F. Attard deals with folklore, traditions and legends of Gozitan women.

Fr Geoffrey G. Attard gives an insight into church related proverbs and sayings in his article entitled ‘Of Humour and Satire in Clerical Circles: A Gozitan Perspective’ while in a second article entitled ‘Lorenzo Zammit Haber: Unsung Gozitan Patriot’ he presents a brief biography of the life of one of the less renowned Gozitan patriots.

Two book reviews are also contributed by Fr Geoffrey G. Attard where he gives interesting and insightful reviews on the books ‘Fil-Ahh u l-Bahh. Poeziji minn gol-Paraxut tat-Tama’ by Joe W. Psaila, and ‘Kwadri tal-Imghoddi’ by Charles Bezzina.

In the final article, Joseph Calleja, the Gozo Campus Administrator, gives a summary of the extra-curricular activities held at the Gozo Campus between January and June 2013.
