Saving Alexis performs in the unique atmosphere of the Manoel Theatre

Gozitan rock band Saving Alexis was one of seven bands playing on the Alternative Stage at the Notte Bianca festival held in Valletta at the weekend. The choice of venue, the historic Manoel Theatre, provided an artistic contrast for the alternative rock styles brought forward by each group, creating a unique atmosphere.
The form of attendance was somewhat unconventional, in the sense that, being only a part of a city-wide event, visitors would be coming and going throughout the performance as they heard the live music while passing by the open doors. It therefore attracted a crowd of all ages, all brought together by the common sense of curiosity at the sound of loud guitars and drums at such a venue.
The band said that it was also very aware of its change of surroundings, performing in front of the wooden tiers decorated with 22-carat gold leaf as the event goers found their seats in front of the stage.
The seated audience provided both a challenge and new experience to the group, as the style of music is not accustomed to this approach. Nevertheless, the band said that “the performance was an unforgettable one,” with the musicians visibly enjoying it and the “crowd responded positively to the Gozitan band’s energetic performance.”
The band said that they will now be heading back to writing and working on new original material and are looking forward to 2014 being a good year for Saving Alexis.
