“Committed fully to leaving Gozo much better than we found it.” This was said by the Minister for Gozo Dr Anton Refalo during the launching of the scheme to clean-up the valleys and cliffs in Gozo
The Minister added that the the beauty of the valleys and cliffs was being destroyed as they became victims of illegal dumping and vandalism. The first of the clean-up operations, in Wied Ghasri, which was described by Dr Refalo as “one of the most beautiful valleys in Gozo,” has now been completed.
The clean-up operation by employees of the Ministry for Gozo, consisted of collecting the waste that had accumulated both in and around the valley over the years.
The Minister said that, “this initiative is part of the vision by the Ministry for Gozo to make the island more attractive and for its inhabitants, while at the same time it will also increase the quality of tourist who visit Gozo.”
Dr Refalo concluded by reminding everyone of the Field Service Scheme that was launched recently, whereby waste that has been dumped illegally in the Gozo countryside can be reported.
