‘Bethlehem f’Ghajnsielem’ attracts more than 20,000 visitors

The colder weather has not deterred the thousands of people visiting ‘Bethlehem f’Ghajnsielem,’ during this week, the organisers said, with many travelling from Malta, leaving their cars at Cirkewwa to avoid the queue.
A survey conducted by the organisers showed that by Sunday evening more than 20,000 thousand people including children, had visited the attraction during that week.
A spokesperson for the Organising Committee, this week confirmed that 37 residents came from Tolfa, Italy to join the other actors who are animating the Nativity Village. Altogether there are more than 150 participating actors including eight infants who are representing the baby Jesus.
The Local Council of Ghajnsielem is twinned with the Municipality of Tolfa , which is located 60 kilometers from Rome and has a population of 5,000 people .
The Nativity village will close with the Adoration of the Magi on Epiphany, Sunday, the 5th of January 2013. The ‘Three Kings’ will depart from Tolfa in Italy and make their long journey to Gozo, before making the triumphal entrance to the nativity village late in the afternoon.
This is the fifth edition of Bethlehem f’Ghajnsielem, organised by an action committee led by the Ghajnsielem Local Council with the support and assistance of the Ministry for Gozo and together with the local NGOs and Ghajnsielem Parish.
The nativity village is just a 5 minute walk away from Mgarr Harbour and will be animated on the following days:

Friday 27th 4.30pm – 7.30pm
Saturday 28th 4.30pm – 8.30pm
Sunday 29th 2.00pm – 7.30pm

Saturday 4th 4.30pm – 8.00pm
Sunday 5th** 2.00pm – 8.00pm**

Public transportation is encouraged when travelling to Bethlehem f’Ghajnsielem. Visitors can choose either to leave their car at Cirkewwa Terminal and walk up to the crib from Mgarr Harbour or park their car in the Ghajnsielem centre and walk down to the entrance. Parking is also available at Ghajnsielem F.C. football grounds.
