University Scholarship for Ph.D. (Research) Student Breast Cancer Project

Applications are invited for a scholarship for a Ph.D. student to work on a project to study the mechanisms of transformation in Breast Cancer. The scholarship originates from the non-profit organisation, Action for Breast Cancer Foundation, facilitated by the Research Trust (RIDT) of the University of Malta.
The project is coordinated by the University of Malta under the supervision of Professor Christian Scerri (Department of Physiology and Biochemistry) and Dr Godfrey Grech (Department of Pathology).
Applicants must be in possession of a first degree, ideally in biomedical sciences and shall be eligible for Ph.D. studies. Familiarity with qualitative research methods, previous experience with Immunohistochemistry technique, Real time PCR technology and cell culturing will be considered assets.
This scholarship will provide a stipend of €12,500 p.a. for the full-time Ph.D. student and covers a period of three years. The scholarship will also provide €3,500 p.a. to cover costs for exchange visits to collaborators, and €2,000 to cover publications and conferences.
The selected candidate is expected to enrol in the University of Malta’s Ph.D. programme and conduct research in breast cancer. The post is for a maximum period of three years, which will be subject to the eligibility of the candidate to enrol in the Ph.D. programme.
