Fiori D’Argenta: This weekend at St John the Baptist Square, Xewkija

Fiori D’Argenta: 4th edition, a festival of culture, history, drama and traditions, is taking place over this coming weekend, Saturday the 14th, and Sunday the 15th of June, in Xewkija.
The weekend event is organised by the Xewkija Local Council and the spectacular entertainment will be taking place in St John the Baptist Square, as well as the surrounding areas.
On Saturday, there will be a car boot sale at Mgarr Road, opposite the Gozo Stadium, starting at 2.00pm,
Saturday evening’s entertainment will get underway at 8.30pm, with special guests: Divine Sinners, Miriam Christine, Amelia Hope and Deborah C.
There will also be Hands on Crafts for children from Williana Azzopardi and Grace Camilleri, as well as children’s entertainment.
The largest traditional ‘Torta tal-Bajtar ta’ San Gwann’ will also be baked, with a chance for everyone to have a taste and enjoy the finished result.
On Sunday there will be a horse defile, at 8.45am, led by San Bert Fold Group, starting at Ral-Hniena and ending at the St John the Baptist Square with the blessing of the horses.
Starting at 9.00am there will be an exhibition of folklore and traditional crafts, your health first, Ta’ Verna Folk Group, Hands on Crafts for children from Williana Azzopardi and Grace Camilleri, Go-Carts and Balloon modelling for kids.
The historical sites open Friday to Sunday, will be the Rotunda Church, the Museum of Sculpture.
The exhibition at The Socjetà Filarmonika Prekursur Band Club, ‘Non Surrexit Maior’ (no one greater than him [St. John the Baptist]” will also be open.
