The JP2 Foundation of Gozo has said that it would like to remember the life of H.E. Dr Alexander Cachia Zammit, Ambassador Emeritus to the Holy See who passed away on Wednesday.
Dr Cachia Zammit served as Ambassador between 1987 and 1992. “His hard work as an Ambassador was instrumental in having for the first time a Pontiff visiting the Maltese Archipelago.”
The JP2 Foundation is, at present and will in the coming months, be organising a programme of events in preparation for the commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the Pastoral Visit to our islands of Pope John Paul II which took place on the 25th, 26th and 27th of May 1990.
In more ways than one, even this commemoration is the result of the diplomatic work carried out by Dr. Cachia Zammit, the Foundation said.
The President and Members of the JP2 Foundation said that they would also like to show their appreciation to Dr Sandy for his support during the formation of their Foundation.
