Following several successful cleanups in the rivers and valleys of Gozo, the NGO, We Are All One, has started a new way of raising awareness about our planet: using the bamboo that grows everywhere in the Maltese Archipelago.
The NGO said that this alien plant species is perfect material to built temporary platforms, rafts or paddles. To put this into practice a first experiment trip was organised with the title ‘Gozo Splash.’ The idea is to combine bamboo paddles and aquatic activities, not only for Gozitans, but tourists as well. The first edition of Gozo Splash was held last Friday, with a kayak trip from Hondoq to Comino. It combined kayak, climbing and free diving. The organisers sad that “all the participants were happy to support nature and have fun in the same time.”
WAAO said that is was a beautiful day and thanked Gozo Adventures for their human, as well as material help. “And most importantly thanks to all the participants.”
The NGO said that the parts of Comino they visited, Santa Maria Bay and Santa Maria Caves, was very clean!”
