The Minister for Gozo Dr Anton Refalo, has been visiting several of the ongoing activities in Gozo as part of European Move Week, being held between the 29th of September and the 5th of October.
During this week, Gozo has joined the rest of Europe in activities that meet the standards and tastes of everyone, so that more people participate in some form of physical exercise and thus combat the problem of obesity, both in children and in adults.
It aims to give the opportunity to each person to find an activity that suits them, so that they may continue to practice it over the years.
Across Europe more than 1,000,000 people from around 33 countries are expected to participate.
The Minister for Gozo mentioned that in recent months a great deal of work has been carried out, which has resulted in a completely new dimension to sport in Gozo.
Dr Refalo said the commitment of the Ministry for Gozo for this coming year, is to continue its work against obesity. To also encourage more Gozitans to participate in some form of exercise that helps them live a more healthy and active lifestyle.
Among the activities are dancing, badminton, cycling, martial arts, athletics, football, gymnastics, baseball, horse riding, rugby and many other various sporting activities. The public are encouraged to take part in any activity that helps them move, in Move Week, and the future.
These activities are organised by The Gozo Sports Board in collaboration with the Ministry for Gozo, KMS and the Gozo Sports Complex.
