The Gozo NGOs Association together with Microsoft Malta, held an NGO Connection Day in Gozo. It consisted of a half day seminar at the Gozo NGO Centre with representatives of Microsoft.
This was the first such seminar organised in Gozo, and it was opened by Mr. Ryan Mercieca, Secretary of the Gozo NGOs Association. He highlighted the work of the association for the past two years and the an important pillar of such work was the inclusion of Technology in the work of the NGOs and the Gozitan society.
He added that the Association, during the past year, had embarked on an ambitious project aimed at helping Gozitans to familiarise themselves on the use of technology and the internet, which had resulted in over 350 people applying to take part.
Mercieca added that the NGO Connection day with Microsoft was another important first, and such collaboration confirms the vital role the association has in the Gozitan Society, with the NGOs based in Gozo.
Ms. Angela Micallef, Citizenship and Community Affairs Manager and Mr. Jonathan Vella, Microsoft Partner Technology Strategist, delivered the seminar during which Microsoft aimed to raise awareness among local NGOs about the tools and programmes that the company offers, as well as building their ICT capacity, offering them the opportunity to network between one another and share experiences and knowledge and furthering outreach opportunities.
There were also interactive sessions and demonstrations, namely on the use of software to manage relationships with donors, how it could enhance more productivity and how Microsoft’s Citizenship programme assists local NGO’s through Software Donation.
Similar sessions have also been held in Malta.
