Gozitan band – They Come in Twos – have released their third single today, an instrumental cover of “Happy Xmas (War is Over)” by John & Yoko/Plastic Ono Band.
Following the band’s now familiar formula, the adaption utilises distorted guitars and heavy drums, and in this case also makes use of a glockenspiel. The idea was almost a year in the making, and was shelved until the return of the Christmas season.
The song is dedicated to two Gozitan friends, Andrew Camilleri and Alan Casha, who embarked on a 9-month trip in early November to do voluntary work in some of the most impoverished countries in Africa, namely Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia and Malawi.
They Come in Twos is a Gozitan studio post-rock band made up of guitarist Christian Farrugia (ex-Saving Alexis) and drummer Paul Formosa (Ascendor).
They have released three singles to date, including their debut “Static Made Me This Way” and ‘Through the Trenches (into the Light).’ The band plans to continue releasing new singles from the studio every few months.
