“This investment will be the largest ever seen our country and will involve a financial investment by Shanghai Electric Power in Enemalta and in plant Delimara 3,” the Government said.
“Apart from this investment, and as announced earlier this year,” the Government continued, “Enemalta and Shanghai Electric Power will be entering into joint ventures; One of which will be a company that provides alternative energy for the European market and the other will be to provide maintenance for Shanghai Electric Power plants in the region.”
“Through this agreement Enemalta will be put on a sound footing,” the Government added, “and will enable it to contribute to the economic growth of our country.”
“This partnership between Enemalta and Shanghai Electric Power will also mean that Enemalta, for the first time in its history, will be participating in projects abroad,” the Government statement said.
The Government concluded that it will be publishing the final agreement, which will also be discussed in Parliament.
