Commuters & vehicles crossing to Gozo both down on last year - NSOIn the first quarter of 2015, sea transport between Malta and Gozo registered decreases compared to the corresponding quarter of 2014, the National Statistics Office said today.

A total of 842,193 commuters travelled between Malta and Gozo during the first quarter this year, down by 6.0 per cent when compared to the corresponding quarter of 2014.

The highest number of commuters was recorded in March at 336,351, or 39.9 per cent of the total for the quarter. The number of vehicles decreased by 1.9 per cent, totalling 258,648.

The number of trips stood at 4,591, a decrease of 0.9 per cent over the first quarter of 2014. The majority of trips took place in March at 1,600, or 34.9 per cent of total trips for the quarter.
