The Malta Drifting Association, in a statement has said said that it would like to clarify that what is being reported in some media is incorrect, adding that the accident yesterday, was not caused by the Porsche Spyder doing a drifting display.
Wishing a speedy recovery to all those injured during yesterday’s Paqpaqli Ghall istrina event, the MDA said, “the unfortunate accident that happened at Paqpaqli Ghall istrina, was not caused by the Porsche doing ‘drifting’ displays as reported. Drifting was being held in another area.”
The Association added that it had also seen various comments on social media, as well as some news reports about a drifting display that was held at Notte Bianca last Saturday. The MDA stated that it “disassociates itself from such activity, as there were also comments of lack of safety.”
The Malta Drifting Association concluded its statement by saying that it holds its displays in the safest environment possible taking all necessary precautions. “The activity held at St. Elmo was not a drifting display.”
