Farm to Fork official launch at the Gozitano Agricultural Village

The second edition of Farm to Fork has has its official launch by the Minister for Gozo Dr Anton Refalo. The event is organised by the Gozo Confederation for Agriculture and Fisheries, with activities including food, entertainment, tours and exhibition of farm animals, which will all be taking place at the Gozitano Agricultural Village, in Xewkija, on the 28th and 29th of June.
Dr Refalo said that this event was so successful last year it has now become part of the cultural calendar in Gozo.
The Minister reiterated the importance of the Gozo Confederation for Agriculture and Fisheries, a primary sector which is so important for the Gozitan economy. He also stressed the importance of the various sectors working together to benefit from the collaboration.
"This organisation effectively represents and protect the interests of Gozo and Gozitans in the agriculture and fisheries sectors, sectors that are often considered marginal to the country. These sectors assume a central importance to the economy and employment sector in Gozo," the Minister said.
Dr Joseph Grech, President of the Gozo Confederation of Agriculture and Fisheries, said that the Confederation is working in practice for the development of the primary sector in Gozo, with various initiatives and projects to be launched in the coming months.
Among others Dr Grech announced that now the Confederation, through agreements with its members, has a delegation that directly represents Gozitan farmers in Brussels. He also thanked the Minister for Gozo "for the constant and unconditional support always shown and all those involved in this sector."
On Tuesday, the 28th of June between 8.00am and midnight, in the Gozitano Main Square, there will be Free Tastings – Kids Entertainment – An exhibition of live farm animals – Local and Regional Food Stalls – Ghana and Folk Festival, plus `D Capitals' Live Band.
International chefs will be on site giving live cooking demonstrations for the public to enjoy.
There will be a 'Traditional Mnarja Dinner' at the Gozitano Main Square from 7.30pm onwards.
Also on the Tuesday evening from 7.00pm onwards there will be a Dinner with Scuola Nosco at Vini e Capricci.
Tours will also be available on Saturday for the Brewery, Mushroom Factory and the Gozo Cottage.
Then on Sunday, the 29th of June the event will be open between 9.00am and 1.00pm, and there will be a Traditional Maltese Lunch with Scuola Nosco at Vini e Capricci, from midday onwards.
