Gharb Council receives funding towards greening their locality

Six local councils, including Gharb Local Council in Gozo, will be benefiting from a total of €180,000 in funds towards greening their locations.
The Ministry for Sustainable Development, the Environment and Climate Change is providing financial assistance of of €30,000 each to Gharb, Gozo and in Malta – Valletta, Hamrun, Naxxar, Marsa and Zebbug.
75% of the funds were presented at the signing of the agreement, and 25% of the funds will be awarded on the completion of the project.
Funds for Gharb Local Council will be used to plant 43 trees and 716 shrubs on several sites in the locality, including Visitation Square and the Wied il-Mielah.
Present for the occasion was the Environment Minister Jose Herrera and Parliamentary Secretary for Local Councils Stefan Bountempo.
The agreement was signed by the Permanent Secretary in conjunction with the respective Mayors and Executive Secretaries of the six local councils to benefit from this project.
