Christmas Nature Fair at Simar Nature Reserve with BirdLife Malta

BirdLife Malta is organising its first-ever Christmas Nature Fair, which is planned to be full of festive fun, educational…and above all it will be held in an area surrounded by nature.
Taking place next Sunday, the 10th of December, between 10am and 4pm – Simar Nature Reserve in Xemxija is going to host workshops, games and activities for all the family, a food stall with delicious Christmas treats.
There will also be stands by different organisations and sustainable enterprises who have teamed up with BirdLife Malta for the event, and include: Malta National Aquarium, Wasteserv, Koperattiva Kummerc Gust, Higher Youths Malta (Giovanni Curmi Higher Secondary), Simply Organic and Dar Frate Jacoba.
BLM said that children will have the opportunity to be engaged with Christmas crafts, tree decorations, bird food garlands, scavenger hunts, quizzes, and magnifying glasses.
At the reserve’s bird hides, expert reserve wardens will be running bird ringing demonstrations and they will assist visitors in birdwatching.
At 11am, Magic of Stories – a storytelling session in collaboration with the National Literacy Agency will also be held.
There will be the chance to become a BirdLife Malta member and benefit from special Christmas membership package offers which include magazines, pin badges, key chains and other souvenirs.
BirdLife Malta said that entrance is free and there is no need for booking, Ghadira Nature Reserve will be closed for the day and the event will be cancelled only in case of adverse weather conditions.
They explained that this will be an opportunity for families to enjoy the outdoors and get closer to nature and wildlife during the winter season, whilst at the same time engage with fun-filled activities and games related to the festive period.
