P A X – The Puzzle that is PeaceP A X – The Puzzle that is Peace – will be installed in front of the San Lawrenz Parish Church, Gozo, next Monday.

This community project, which is organised by Gozo Performance Group, is directly inspired from the inspiration of St Francis of Assisi Cathedral in Italy, where a hedge in the shape of PAX sits on the grass before it.

During the event on Monday, a small group will enact a commencement of a short ritual that pledges the mind, heart strength and courage to all corners of the earth for peace.

The Group said that, “defenders require courage. Peace poems are read and we wear red gags representing those who can take no action, nor speak for Peace.”

Gozo stones and peace symbols from around the world help make up the Puzzle. “Peace is a Puzzle and we all should do what we can.”

The Group explained that for people who feel strongly about events around the world this installation is an artwork that enables a way in, by an action in the form of personal prayer.

Those present will be asked to choose a stone from a nearby mound, then wash it, purifying it in Gozo Fennel water, and then place their stone inside the giant PAX letters, contributing to the Gozo Prayer for Peace.

The installation in San Lawrenz will be taking place on Monday, the 27th of August, starting from around 6pm.

‘Peace’ is the theme for installations, performance and an exhibition which will be part of this project. Details of other dates can be found here.
