Because of the bad weather, the traditional Fjakkolata – Celebration of Light had to be cancelled last Sunday, however a new date has now been set for this spectacular event and it will be this Sunday, the 21st of October.

On Sunday, as the sun goes down, Ghar Ilma Hill will be lit up with thousands of lanterns – all set against the beautiful backdrop of the Gozitan countryside surrounding the heart of the quaint village of Santa Lucija in Gozo.
The Fjakkolata has been taking place in the village for over 30 years, in celebration of the feast of Our Lady of Fatima, which falls on the 13th of October.
This breathtaking evening attracts visitors from all over the island to enjoy the spectacular scene from St. Lucija Square, where there will also be the chance to savour local food, which this year includes traditional ravioli and Gozitan ftira, together with the unique hospitality of the village.
The traditional Fjakkolata – Celebration of Light is taking place on Sunday, the 21st of October, the torches will start being lit from 7.00pm onwards, on Ghar Ilma Hill.
A Folk Night will also be taking place at St Lucija Square, with the participation of Cordia String Quartet and Atonal Band.
The musical concert – Symphony of Lights – with the St Gregory Band under the direction of Mro. Mark Gauci, is taking place in the same square, this Friday, the 19th of October and starts at 8.30pm.
A spectacular lights and fireworks display will enrich this unique event in one of the oldest Gozitan hamlets.
Everyone invited to attend both shows, which will be free of charge.
