A new emergency on-call service has recently been launched by the Gozo Branch of the Foundation for Social Welfare Services – FSWS.
This new service is operative after office hours, on weekends and public holidays. The service will be delivered by Social Workers and other employees of the Foundation.
FSWS said that despite being known for its tranquillity, Gozo is not immune to social cases or social challenges. “On the contrary, just as double insularity hits the industry and the economy in Gozo, it also hits social services and their accessibility.”
The Foundation for Social Welfare Services – FSWS said that it has for this purpose, set up shop in Gozo with the establishment of its Gozo Branch Operations in Xewkija, with the aim of ensuring a uniform service delivery on the island of whatever services are offered in Malta.
The latest initiative of the Gozo Branch is this new emergency on-call service. This means that anyone requiring emergency assistance and support after working hours, on weekends or public holidays, may find a social worker or any other FSWS employee to resort to.
The Foundation said that it acknowledges that social problems and emergencies know no office hours and quite often, time is of the essence in such matters.
This service is being coordinated by the Gozo Branch of the FSWS which is based in Soil Street, Xewkija.
Anyone requiring help and assistance may call on 9955 7069.
