Study underway for reintroduction of Gozo helicopter serviceSpeaking during the Gozo Tourism Awards Ceremony, the Minister for Gozo Justyne Caruana, spoke about the need to strengthen connectivity between the islands through other means of transport.

Dr Caruana said discussions are underway with the Ministry for Tourism to reintroduce the helicopter service between the islands, among other means.

According to Tourism Minister Konrad Minister, who also spoke at the Awards event, a study is expected to be concluded by the end of March about the possibility of this helicopter service.

The Minister for Gozo went on to mention that during 2018 Gozo Channel ferries had carried more than 5.57 million passengers and over 1.65 million vehicles, between Malta and Gozo.

Minister Caruana added that the Ministry for Gozo has set clear targets to achieve the desired results by synergy between the authorities, which will be assured by the Gozo Regional Development Authority.

There is also need for improvements in the tourism product, Dr Caruana said, “and this includes not only improving infrastructure, but also initiatives and direct and indirect assistance to operators, and for better accessibility between the islands, even in the context of the Gozo tunnel project, which will start during this legislature.”

      So after years of service by the helicopter we still need more study! We need more study for the tunnel ! We need more study for the fast ferry and holed up in court the tender! Promises that never come to fruition .Gozo deserve the get it done attitude not possibilities.
