The repertoire for this year’s Don Bosco Grand Concert – A Classic Showcase – has now been announced.
Highlights from the musical “Mary Poppins,” “Viva Verdi,” “Queen in Concert,” Soundtrack music from “Ben Hur,” “Pirates of the Caribbean,” “Abba Magic,” Selections from “Fiddler on the Roof” and “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly” will all form part of the concert programme.
Promising trumpeter Theo Farrugia will feature in a solo rendering of “Ballade Romantika.” and the concert comes to an end with the Don Bosco Hymn.
Don Bosco Feast celebrations start later this month, and this popular annual concert is held to mark the occasion.
A Classic Showcase – is taking places on Sunday, the 3rd of February, starting at 7.30pm at the Oratory Don Bosco Theatre, Victoria, Gozo.
The Gozo Youth Wind Band will be under the direction of founder and Music Director Joseph Grech. Entrance is free of and patrons are kindly requested to be seated 15 minutes before.
It is the 17th year since the inception of the Gozo Youth Orchestra and the Gozo Youth Wind Band, and the 50 band members are mostly Gozitan Youths, who after having pursued their musical studies both in Gozo and Malta on an individual basis, meet regularly in group to prepare an “exciting and varied repertoire” to be performed in concerts throughout the year.
The Gozo Youth Orchestra will be presenting “Queen meets Coldplay” on Saturday, the 16th of March at the Aurora Theatre in Victoria.
