The Wild Orchid Project is back for its third year in Gozo, with an opportunity for Gozitan nature enthusiasts to join Green House Malta in their survey of orchids as they blossom all over Gozo and Malta.
Greenhouse said that anyone interested in forming part of the orchid citizen scientist team which involves going out on 2-hour walks to record orchids encountered (by taking photos) is highly encouraged to join them for a session, no previous experience or orchid knowledge is necessary.
On Saturday, the 2nd of February, they will be holding an information session and discussion about the wild orchids to be found in our countryside, which will be delivered by local orchidologist Stephen Mifsud on how to identify the different species.
Following this, and a break with drinks and snacks, there will be the opportunity to go to a nature area and begin learning how to survey orchids with the discovery of these beautiful flowers.
This session will be taking place at the Ministry for Gozo Hall, St Francis Square, Victoria, between 9.30am and 1.00pm. It is also open to anyone who is interested in learning more about our local wild orchids.
