Prime Minister Joseph Muscat, speaking this morning at a political activity at the Labour Party Club in Victoria, Gozo, outlined the Government’s vision on the island’s potential, talking about how economic development can be carried out “in a sustainable manner.”
Among other things he revealed how the Government’s plan is for free public transport to be operated through the Gozo-Malta tunnel, thereby discouraging the use of private cars.
He also explained that there will be direct public transport to strategic places such as the airport, Mater Dei Hospital and Valletta among others.
“I categorically refute the idea that through a permanent link we are going to destroy Gozo,” the Prime Minister said.
“It is our intention that Gozo remains an environmental oasis, remains a cultural attraction and the most beautiful part of our country … but you must also have the infrastructure,” said the Prime Minister.
