Gozo Carnival weekend events enjoyed by thousands, with more planned todayThousands of visitors, both local and tourists, are enjoying the colourful Gozo Carnival events taking place in villages across the island this weekend..

Visitors are enjoying a riot of colour, laughter, carnival dances, children’s groups, hilarious sketches, costumes, maskeruni, floats – both large and small, among others.

This afternoon, the Gozo Regional Carnival celebrations continue in the heart of Victoria, with plenty of fun and entertainment for all ages. The Carnival programme for Victoria can be seen below.

The Xaghra Local Council, is organising Carnival activities in the main square from around midday onwards. Where visitors will be able to experience a traditional family Carnival atmosphere.Gozo Carnival weekend events enjoyed by thousands, with more planned todayZebbug Carnival, organised by the Local Council is also taking place this afternoon in the main square from around 12.15pm, when the “Banda Santa Marija” of Zebbug will play joyful marches along the main street leading from the Band Club to the village Main Square.

There will be fun and colourful entertainment for all the family to enjoy, several local Carnival dance companies will be taking part, mixed in with intervals of songs and music by other popular local talent. Another attraction will be a huge “Prinjolata.”

The Carnival festivities will end with the traditional “Kukkanja” challenge and fun for all.

Victoria:

Sunday 3rd March 2.30pm: Defile’ along Republic Street to Independence Square..

Dance spectacle with the participation of dance companies together with triumphal floats, grotesque masks, bands, “Il-Komittiva” humorous sketches, Big Friends Guggen Musik Malta and La Vittoria band and Sambrazilian – a Maltese/Brazilian band.

Monday 4th March 6.00pm: Defile’ along Republic Street to Independence Square.

Dance spectacle with the participation of dance companies together with triumphal floats, grotesque masks, “Il-Komittiva” ,bands and humorous sketches.

Tuesday 5th March 6.00pm: Grand Finale along Republic Street to Independence Square..

The famous Nadur Spontaneous Carnival opens this evening – which projects the message of carnival made through satire.

The Council said that this year’s Spontaneous Carnival is “bigger and better,” with guest DJs for the evenings, including Commander Jay, DJ Pierre Cordina, Ronald Briffa & Friends, DJ Joe Spiteri and Micimago.

The Spontaneous Carnival continues through to Tuesday, the 5th of March, in December 13th Street, St. Peter & St. Paul Square and the surrounding streets, beginning after sunset each day and lasting till the early morning hours……

Special Bus Service in Gozo for Nadur Carnival on Sunday, 3rd March

Victoria to Nadur every 30 minutes between 20:00hrs and 23:00hrs.

Special services will operate at 00:00hrs from Nadur to all localities as shown below:
