Traditional and modern "Way of the Cross" for Lent and Easter in GhajnsielemA traditional and a modern “Way of the Cross” has been inaugurated at Ta’ Passi fields, where the “Bethlehem f’Ghajnsielem” activity is usually held.

This innovative initiative will provide the public with the opportunity to mediate the `Way of the Cross’ throughout the Lent period.

In collaboration with the Ghajnsielem Local Council, Ghaqda Drammatika Ghajnsielem is organising various activities throughout the Lent period, including the `Way of the Cross.’

Ghaqda Drammatika Ghajnsielem said that local schools, local councils and other community groups are encouraged to organise group meditations.

A 50 feet provisional cross structure has been constructed at ta Passi fields which can be viewed from many locations.Traditional and modern "Way of the Cross" for Lent and Easter in GhajnsielemGhaqda Drammatika Ghajnsielem explained that this will be lit up every day until Easter Sunday, 21st April. Both the Way of the Cross and the Cross have been constructed from recycled materials such as wooden pallets.

Holy Week Activities in GhajnsielemTraditional and modern "Way of the Cross" for Lent and Easter in GhajnsielemOn Sunday, the 14th of April (Palm Sunday), Ta’ Passi fields will be transformed into a village reflecting the time of Jesus’ passion consisting of various biblical characters from 2.30pm onwards.

There will also be a performance entitled “The Passion: Then and Now” at 6pm which will commence with a live reenactment of The Lord’s Supper at 4pm.

A repeat performance of the Passion of the Christ will also be held on the 19th of April (Good Friday) at 10.30am.

Entrance for these activities is free.

The Last SupperTraditional and modern "Way of the Cross" for Lent and Easter in GhajnsielemA live reenactment of The Lord’s Supper will also take place at Ta’ Passi fields, when actors will portray Jesus sharing his final meal with his Apostles before his crucifixion.

The atmosphere of Ta’ Passi fields and the natural surroundings including the animals, will transport visitors back in time to experience `The Last Supper.’ There will also be a live kitchen where traditional Passover food will be prepared.

This activity will take place on Holy (Maundy) Thursday evening, the 18th of April,, from 8.30pm until 11.30pm and the following morning, Good Friday, 19th April, from 9.00am until 10.30am.

Our Lady of Sorrows Procession

Every year, Ghaqda Drammatika Ghajnsielem also organises the procession of Our Lady of Sorrows where around 100 personages dressed as biblical characters take part.

The procession will leave the Ghajnsielem Parish church at 6.30pm on the 12th of April and will continue throughout the various village streets.

Ghaqda Drammatika Ghajnsielem was established in 1987 with the principal aim of producing quality productions and activities mainly connected with the Holy Week.
