Class A riders dominate Gozo Motocross Championship Quarter Finals

The quarter finals of the Gozo Motocross Association championship 2018/19 took place in perfect weather on Sunday at Ta’ Xhajma Track.
Twenty-two riders, including a number of Maltese, participated in the event, watched by the many fans and motocross enthusiasts who went along to support their favourite rider.
Riders of Class A dominated the day, with the riders putting on the most incredible competitive show.
Top rider of the Gozitan Championship classification and Champion of 2018, Steve Xuereb, together with David Dimech and Carmelo Borg, raced against Kyle Camilleri the Maltese current Champion of ASMK.
All riders fought hard to place in the first three positions in all of the three heats. Camilleri won this category followed closely by Xuereb in second place. Dimech came in third place.
Class B turned out to be just as challenging with lead rider Glenn Vella winning first place with 60 points, followed by Maltese rider Daniel Caruana, Robert Spiteri came in third place. Meanwhile Mario Cauchi, Gozitan champion of 2016-17, returned after a very long break and participated in class B, coming in fourth.In Class C, Daniel Portelli did very well for himself. He achieved maximum points. Jorn Stellini followed in second place while William Sant came in third, followed very closely by Lewis Debono.
Stellini leads Class C. David Mercieca held on to his first place as he leads Class D. He was followed by 15-year old Isaac Bartolo and Anthony Fenech was placed third.
President of the Association, Frank Xuereb, awarded trophies to the winners, together with Ravenol products.
Besides the main sponsor Yamaha by Gasan Zammit, The GMA said that Sunday’s races were also supported by Ravenol Lubricant Oil at Galea General Services of Xewkija Gozo.Gozo Motocross Association has said that the semi-finals of the Yamaha Gozo Motocross Championship 2018/19 will take place on Sunday, the 14th of April, at Ta’ Xhajma Track. Races start at 1:00pm.
For the first time in Gozo, the Association is proud to present the first edition of the Motocross Master Classes.
These intensive classes, which will be spread over the next weekend, 30th and 31st of March, will take place at the track and will be headed by popular European Champions Dimitri Asmanov and Nenad Maxims.
The Association added that several activities, including motocross, enduro, trials and also autocross will be taking place in the near future.
