THINKing about Home… and artificial intelligence

THINKing about Home… and artificial intelligence learning to be creativeThis year, THINK magazine has joined some great minds and given its own take on what Home means for us (and quite a few researchers at the University of Malta).

UM said that Albert Einstein, Jane Goodall, and Sigmund Freud have all discussed the concept of Home. “For some, the word brings up notions of the death of our planet, for others it conjures the most fond childhood memories.”

The Maltese Islands are an obvious recurrent trend, the UM said. “Researchers talk about our natural environment through a documentary about Comino and the harm we could be doing to it with the excessive use of fireworks.”

They also delve into the changing face of architecture in Malta; while others explore Maltese nicknames, and what they mean to a community.

The UM’s research magazine notes that a passion for politics is another very local trait being explored through art. In this issue, it dives into the media of music and theatre.

But the issue does not focus just on Home. Other stories talk about artificial intelligence that is learning to be creative.

The team behind LearnD divulge their philosophy behind education and peer teaching that led to their app. And finally, their is a hint of minimalism-the movement showing people that they can live with less and be happier.

THINK, the University of Malta’s research magazine, can be picked up for free at the Msida Campus or with the Malta Today newspaper in newsagents around Malta and Gozo.

It is also available online at on Issuu or on Facebook
