I had the honor and pleasure to work with Fr Giovanni when he was a parish priest of Santa Cruz. I stayed there for a whole year. During this year I worked shoulder to shoulder with Fr Cefai and he shared the pastoral work with me where I saw in depth the suffering of these people and the dedication of this great young priest. Life as a foreigner and especially if you are a missionary is not easy as you also end up as a target of many delinquents. I believe I was a great help for P. Giovann both in the building of a new 6 story center and in pastoral work and in return he was a great inspiration and mentor for me. It was because of him that I followed his ideal and continued the mission work in Peru but this time very far away from him in the Selva of Ayacucho. May God bless him and be his strength in his new apostolate.
