The Bishop of Gozo Mgr Mario Grech, in his Homily in solemn remembrance of the Last Supper of the Lord at the Cathedral on Maundy Thursday, said that what happened at the Last Supper, helps us understand what is meant when the evangelist says that, “Having Loved His Own who were in the World, He Loved Them to the End.” (John 13:1-20).
Jesus knew that Judas would betray; knew that Peter would deny and despite everything, he loved them and those around the table to the end, the Bishop said.
Bishop Grech said that Jesus left us his body as food and his blood as drink. “The Eucharist is not a luxury! We are wrong if we think that the Eucharist is a treat for on a Sunday only! The Eucharist is our daily bread.” Bishop Grech said.
