The Bishop of Gozo Mgr Mario Grech, was invited to celebrate Mass for employees of the Ministry for Gozo, on the occasion of Labour Day.
The Mass took place in the courtyard of the Ministry and in his homily, the bishop chose to speak about the link between work and family, saying that it is a great satisfaction for him “when I hear workers say that every morning they find the strength to begin work that day because they have their family in their heart and mind.”
He said that work gives dignity to the individual and the family, but added that there is a “golden rule” in terms of balancing extra work load to human life. It is also important that the couple invest quality time for themselves and their children, in a society that is often attacked by an “economic killer.”
The Bishop also spoke about the need that every worker is “grateful to his employer and to make good use of his time at work.” Equally important is the “social conscience” that help us not to lose what he called “the human quality.”
The Mass, was attended by many workers, and also present was the Minister for Gozo, Dr Justyne Caruana, as well as several directors from within the Ministry.
