The Minister for Gozo Justyne Caruana, to mark the occasion of Labour Day, paid official visits to several departments within the Ministry, as well as private sector companies.
Labour Day still has an important and powerful significance in a world that is becoming more globalised and technological, said the Minister.
Dr Caruana also acknowledged that today more people are looking for attractive job opportunities “and thanks to the government’s work more employment places have been created in Gozo as promised.”
She said the work of the Ministry for Gozo in this area is to attract more companies to Gozo, thereby creating jobs for our youth.
She added that it is the government’s mission to continue to create jobs in Gozo and that is why the government is investing in infrastructure. Dr Caruana listed some of these, including the second fibre optic cable and the SME Park in Xewkija, as well as initiatives such as the Gozo Employment Scheme, though which 32 companies benefited creating 80 jobs.
Minister Justyne Caruana thanked all workers within the Ministry for Gozo for their commitment and dedication in providing a public service and augured every success to those employed in the private sector.
